Passion For Action ...Or is It

Well this blog name reflects the inner desire of each one of us.. of doing something with a passion. Of making a difference and a lot of other chutzpah. So like many other netizens across the globe, I too make an ode to the Mumbai terror attacks of last week. But rather than going into the nitty gritty of the violence, how many killed, who is responsible, whom to blame etc etc. For that I think the entire nation has some view or the other. And the visual media is trying to outdo each other to show you some exclusive images. Infact right now one of the news channels is carrying images of the captured terrorist being moved to an undisclosed location. Although I do't know if it is undisclosed anymore.

I would rather focus on we as individuals and what we are doing. From last week I have been in Cochin for some official work and watched all these events unfold via news channels. And they have been just that, news for me. A friend of mine who is a doctor in a prestigious medical school in Bangalore didnt even know about it till I told her, a day after. Shall I say that she is apathetic? I don't think so she's a doctor and she saves lives every single day. She puts in 18 straight hours in her shifts. So I'll take that she was busy to catch up on the news. And I guess thats the thing with every one of us across the country we are all busy with our own lives and these events don't put a dent to our daily routines, until we ourselves or someone we know is personally involved.
The events have become a topic of discussion over our morning cups of tea or when we are out for a smoke break. We are a huge nation and just as this Mumbai drama cooled down. Yesterday there was a bomb blast in Assam, but that news didn't grab much news space on the channels as the Mumbai Fiasco is still worth milking.

Act.

Mumbai meri jaan. Corny it may sound, but it is at such times that nation ceases to be an imagined community. <3 Salaam Bombay.

The thrill of the past,
Resides in the crimson of me.
Of the memories,
That have waded through time..
For so long.
You exist like the overgrown
Weed, weak enough to be left behind.

I have no use of you.
Except for a few tears ,
re-existing the salvation.
Of the nights and the days,
of the heat and the sweat,
of the breath and the gaze.
You , you and you
It was always about you
Did ‘we’ exist ever ?

Now whatever this is

There are times when i wish,
if we could see through each others eyes,
beyond the seen and the felt.
Into the unseen and undealt.

I would promise you a flower on a rainy day,
and i would promise you a dance in a moonlight sway,
I would promise you a walk along the green mountains,
and we would make wishes in the silly forgotten fountains.

There is so much to say
And there is so much to do
Dont let the sun go down on me
Dont let the sun go down on you.

Bring out your dreams
which you left behind with your broken heart,
we would live them together..
Let me listen to your favourite song
and we would dance to the rhythm together.

I can count the stars all night long,
and hear the moon calling us on.
Its been so long that i have wanted to hold a hand tight.
Under a sky swelling with love and stars all bright.

There is so much to say
And there is so much to do
Dont let the sun go down on me
Dont let the sun go down on you

I would promise you a flower on a rainy day,
and i would promise you a dance in a moonlight sway,
I would promise you a walk along the green mountains,
and we would make wishes in the silly forgotten fountains.

There is so much to say
And there is so much to do
Dont let the sun go down on me
Dont let the sun go down on you.

...

Something i wrote, and something which i made unnecessarily long, i mean the repititions :p

If you'd like to walk a while
We could waste the day
Follow me into the trees
I will lead the way

Bring some change up to the bridge
Bring some alcohol
There we'll make a final wish
Just before the fall

Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Nevermind whats done is done
Always was a lucky one

Watch the sunrise all alone
Sitting on the tracks
Hear the train come roaring in
Never coming back

Laying quiet in the grass
Everything is still
River stones and broken bones
Scattered on the hill

Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Nevermind whats done is done
Always was a lucky one

Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Here forever deep beneath the dirt
Nevermind whats done is done
Always was a lucky one

I think i am obsessed with Neruda.

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
that this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Sleeping Beauty and Sleeping Beautah.

Beauty is up after a long, long slumber and no it isnt acutally making things around her quite pretty, as happens in fairytales. So to make things better, she decides to blog and probably give Beautah an incentive to blog too, both enthuless people in this hopeless world leading dull lives, just like the dull eyes behing the soda glasses framing aged eyes that are witnessing colourful flashes of the panoramic images of an ancient television.

...

Hey hey, guess what even i think that doesnt make sense, and this is precisely why i think at times i shut down my blogs, this is not just writer's block, its probably a plethora of blocks which has made this inefficiency into an incurable tumour. I think have probably lost all sense of conviction, so as to have nothing to blog about. I dont know what keeps me so busy, whatever it is, i dont think its making me a better person or a happy person. No its not just about not having the time to blog once a week or once in ten days, its losing the love i had for something which i treasured and enjoyed doing. No, i dont want to sound mellow and dramatic, and have readers nod their heads in sympathy, but i really wonder what kind of lives we lead nowadays. Not having time, and just not having it...it makes me feel so pathetic and oh so irritated.

Do we as individuals cease to exist, because we are engrossed in self-discovery, which mind you never ever ends, and probably one is not even sure what they want to discover in themselves. The aspirations are embodied right infront your eyes, only because somewhere you know it isnt just happening, and so we are hoping for the wrong
things, knowing that its bad wanting them, knowing that you would never get what you
anticipated. And endless fights with destinations and dreams, with aspirations and inhibitions, with love and hate, with you and me. I am so done, so very done with myself, i wish i could shed me like a snake does when it wants to get a new skin. Wow, finally i wish to be reptile :|. Bad joke, is it ?

...

I have been reading too much of Lenin and Marx, of Foucault and Lacan, of Laclau and Mouffe, of Zizek and Roy, i need some life, i need some good books which can relax me
and help reinstate the aesthetic pleasure which flushed me in..into the endless dreams of a less complicated world, lover and society. I forgot Pamuk, Neruda, Plath, Morrison, Ghosh, Rimbaud, Hugo, Wordsworth, Keats, Xingjian, Murakami and Enid Blyton and so many more... Buy me my past ? will you ?

If You Forget Me

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

I Don't Know

Well a lot of people seem to be into Poetry now a days .. So I thought I'll try writing a poem too....To give you one more piece of personal trivia..Although!!!!! Yes I know you are not dying to hear it .. Is I am the vocalist for a Rock Band.. To tell you very frankly not very good at it..though want to improve ...Anyways here's the poem

I don't know

I don't know why the world is so crazy
I don't know why people are so busy killing each other
I don't know why we hate and sometimes even love each other
And I really don't know what world we will be leaving behind and shudder

When people don't mean the things they say
and mean what they don't say
When we are insensitive to everything around us
And our way of leaving it all behind is
drown it in a haze of intoxicated euphoria
Or hang out in the mall and buy a T-shirt

But amongst all this angst and dread
I draw faith from the small yellow flower
Growing in the middle of that busy highway
When all the world is against its survival
It not only survives but thrives
May our faith and compassion be like that weed
Which no amount of selfish human fertilizer
Or the pollution of almost everything going wrong
May destroy

Baba green sheep

Baba green sheep have you any wool?
yes sir yes sir three bags full..

Dont be shocked, its reality. Children in Britain are being
taught to recite the favourite old nursery rhyme as the
traditional school goes, but with a tinge of difference.
Instead of asking a black sheep they ask a green one. Oh no
i am not looking for grins, this is done in order to avoid
racism. Because perhaps it seems that black sheep is a very
racist remark. I dont know whats wrong with people. In the
zillion events which have been pregnant with racism, have
in the due course of time metamorphisised the meaning, or rather
they have defaced the concept altogether.

They say the world is developing and people are getting educated.
But then the streams of insanity seem to penetrate even
deeper into the human psyche. Is this the consciousness which
educations brings? Humour is not free anymore, there cant be
jokes about particular sects, they cannot be based on gender,
then what should people laugh about the sky and the dry life
or the garbage dump around the corner. Madness has no limits,
and this is just another example. The previous post says that
live shows have been banned, and before that smoking was banned
in public. The authorities are sodamn intelligent, that i feel
embarassed to chuck out a few opinions.
Live shows give rise to hooliganism, smoking is bad for
public health. Right honey, its okay if you get drunk and knock
down a coupla people, but smoking is hazardous you know.

So then if you go by the logic, socio-linguists perhaps aim
at stratifying the society on dialect discourse. How can it
be a vista for study or research. Who draws the line of what
is racist and what is not. Racism has become the new 'sexy',
its more like the golden touch of Midas. You become famous,
you sound intelligent if you know and speak about it. The society
can breed and accept, none other than stereotypes, the
transition of the society constantly evolving is more of an
utopian concept. The rising sensex, doesnt ensure less poverty
, i do not understand the economy well, i am the comman man..
how do i find out that rising sensex is giving rise to less
miserable conditions that have prevailed ever since?

I hope someone realises that the ones who are attacked
by arrows of racism or casticism, do not in most cases
know about it. The cricket controversy and the big brother
bash are just facets of what is happening on the large scale.
Its just spoken about and hyped about, nothing is done about
it. Because doing needs proof and theories, both of which
are still being collected. I hope they do not lose the
trace of what they set out for in the search for fundamental
records which lie in chunks right infront of them

Bangalore Police .. Banning Live Shows and Dance Floors

The Bangalore Police from January 1 2008 has banned all Live Band shows and dance floors in all clubs and pubs over the city. Presumably to better the detoriating law and order situation in the so called Silicon City of the country.

This kind of draconian measure is the first of its kind in the country. And highly surprising as Bangalore has always been categorized as a happening and laid back city. When quizzed about this move top police honchos have said that live music and dance floors induce drunk and reckless behaviour and create law and order problems.. Well what can I say to this kind of logic except that its one of the most obtuse and stupid ones ever devised by our lawful protectors.

All this coming from a police force which has been unable to apprehend the IISC shooter who shot dead a professor inside the IISC campus in 2005, couldn't solve the bomb plantings in Majestic bus stand, the rape and murder of an HP employee in 2005, the scores of daily murders and robberies happening all around the city. But this move is supposed to be a panacea to all these woes.. So the people of Bangalore lets rejoice...at the far sightedness of our near sighted police.

First it was the closing of all eateries and business establishments at 11:30 in a city which works 24/7. So many people have been inconvenienced due to this especially people in IT companies as work stretches late most of the time. It seems that the Bangalore Police is getting inspiration for these kind of ideas from the ousted Taliban of Afghanistan. A recent case being harassment of a couple holding hands by a police SI. That day may no be far off when a law requiring all females to be covered from head to toe and always accompanied by a male member may be enacted or banning all music, television and movies all for the sake of protecting precious law and order..

Hallelujah.

It so happens that we meet and we depart. Looks like there are some people who briefly come into your life, to walk around with you for a corner or two. And then when you think you can make it on your own, they are invisible and you witness them walking back the same lanes you both once walked together.

Feels like, you meet every person for a reason. You are an imprint of all the hands you once held. So how do you know what you actually are? Your thoughts are the purest form of you. When you talk to yourself in the mind, at the bed..late at night. Scanning things the way you want, that defines you as a person. The most valid justification of people walking in and out of your life is that, they were the modus operandi which god used to teach you something, to let you experience that little extra.

So instead of regretting and feeling sad of things that happened and people who once were a part of the world, you are required to sit and analyse what you probably learnt. Smile to yourself, that you actually got the extra knowledge. Painful though it might have been, as knowledge always is. Remember the first day at school? yup, thats how we all learn, its tears at first and then the smiles :)

Ladies .. Insecure in India..Why are we doing this..???

For the past few weeks everyday in the news there is some or the other incident of the defilement of dignity of ladies all over the country.. Although sad to say that rape and molestation have become so common words in India that they hardly fail to ring a bell in the psyche anymore, but the recent levels of indecent behavior towards women has reached unprecedented heights.

There was this case of molestation of some female fans when the Twenty20 Indian Team returned to Mumbai victorious. The rape of foreign tourists in Rajasthan. The much publicized molestation of a newly married NRI lady on New year's eve. The public harassment of some females from the North East in Delhi (the females from the North East continue to be an easy target repeatedly in Delhi where some crazed lunatics have this wrong idea about their promiscuity, God knows from where ???). And there were scores and scores of many such incidents both reported or unreported. An entire epic can be dedicated to record these incidents but still not suffice.

Well why are we doing this? I ask this question to the entire male population of this country including me. Although our nation has always worshiped the female form and still continues to do so. We are a nation who traditionally are very family oriented and close to our mothers and sisters. But still these type of incidents keep on growing unabated. The lawmakers and keepers of this country as usual decide to keep mum on this topic or decide to impart some empty rhetoric which serves absolutely no purpose. We pride ourselves for being an epitome of decency but fail to protect half of our population. The incidents of harassment of couples by the police and the supposed denizens of our nation namely various political parties on the name of saving Indian culture and decency being a classic case in point. We harass couples but fail to apprehend rapists.

Are these incidents happening because some deranged people think they can score a point by inflicting harm on women. Or is it the case of high levels of testosterone released on some hapless victim? Or are we scared of the fairer sex making advances in every field and breaking traditional male bastions and want to instill fear in them?? Or is it the oft repeated and so cliche
problem between the have' s and the havenot' s??Or are there any other reasons which I haven't been able to figure out ??
Even women are to blame it for a certain extent, for all women's organizations though very vociferous about the reservation for women in parliament issue are not very active in protesting these incidents.

Well whatever may be the reasons, this problem of defiling a lady's respect should be stopped. Whether voluntarily or by passing strong legislation. And women too rather than being meek and submissive should strongly make a stand on these issues. The previous BJP government tried to pass a law to make rape a capital offense but was opposed by other parties. Such strong measures have to be employed to act as a deterrent.

As a nation we have to be able to safeguard the interests of half of our population. Although we may talk about 9% GDP and 20k Sensex but if we cannot protect our women, we cannot be considered as Developed.

Life ... Strange so Strange

Life . . . what is life ?????

A few days back a friend and myself were returning in his car from some place when I faced an incident which started to make me think in a big way about the unexplained phenomena of Life..

What happened was ....there was this guy on a bike with laptop hung on his back. One of the most common sights of this IT city. He was riding a little ahead of us and suddenly we heard this crashing sound and see that the guy is knocked down by a truck and is sprawled in front of the vehicle.

We all rushed out to help him and fortunately he had not been seriously injured other than a few bruises and a torn pair of trousers. Even his laptop survived the crash and remained intact. We all helped him to get up and took to a nearby pharmacy where first aid was administered. We got talking and came to know his name, his place of work and some other details, after all this he left.

This experience has made me realize how fickle our lives are. We all are busy with our careers, making money, buying assets raising families and all the many other mundane and not so mundane tasks that constitute our lives. But we don't even realize or maybe want to realize that this life of ours can be snuffed in just an instant. Like this software engineer working in a Multinational Company, dreaming about going to the US, buying a huge flat, marrying that perfect girl to have that perfect family, all that could have been just made history by the rash act of a semi literate truck driver carrying a load of sand to the site of a residential complex in which the Engrr may have been planning to buy his flat.

Life shows us many such examples, but we all choose to ignore them and move on with our selves, with our bagfuls of worries, dreams, greed, lust, jealousies and myriad other feelings. We are so much interested in our future, our tomorrow that we tend to overlook the today. We only plan ahead and miss out on the great things and moments that we can enjoy now. We are always in a rush to go ahead and not look behind or at the sides. And what if our tomorrow plans don't work out ?? what if we are gone before tomorrow then we didn't live the present and didn't survive the future anyways.

So from now on I have decided to live my present first and advocate the same to everyone else. In this dangerous and dynamic world when anything may happen anytime I am gonna live everyday of my life more.. Slowdown and look around..more.. love more.. laugh more.. cry more.. share more.. care more..And have a full life so that I have no regrets in the end..About not making the most of my life when I had the chance.
