Well last to last, weekend I watched South Africa take on England in a Pro 20 match at one of the most famous cricketing venues of the World Super-sport Park Centurion. Centurion has been witness to a lot of nerve wracking cricket matches (All the cricket fans, you know what I am talking about !!). So here we were two guys from India about to watch a charged up encounter. Cricket between SA and Eng always is big news here in SA because of the presence of some South African origin players in the English side. The most notable among them being Kevin Pietersen (A typical Boer name) one of the most prolific batsmen of world cricket now. The story goes that he tried out for the Proteas (the SA cricket team, all the sporting teams in SA are known by the famous nick names. Like the rugby team is know as Springboks, the soccer as Bafana Bafana etc) but couldn't make the cut and then tired his luck by moving to England.
So we entered the stadium with our Boerwors rolls and huge mugs of lager and made ourselves comfortable (I like this thing about SA stadiums, u can drink and smoke right inside). Well to tell you the truth I am no cricket fan and hardly watch matches even on the Idiot box. But that day being a Sunday and I not having anything better to do decided to watch it. We were sitting on the grass that day.. and I am telling you it beats being in the stands any day. You are surrounded by people making themselves comfortable on their deck chairs and umbrellas. With the sweet smell of Braai (Afrikaans for barbecue) in the background. And not to forget the ladies.. some of them were absolutely gorgeous. Well we were right near the ropes so could watch all the players from upclose and even the players were signing autographs by the jiffy (By the way they mostly prefer children and ladies; to sign autographs I mean). Well I won't go into the nitty gritty of the match as to tell you the truth I don't remember much of it anyways. But SA posted 240 odd runs in 20 overs which is huge. And the English kind of fell over and wrapped up way to quickly in 160 or 170 runs.
Well I had more fun waving my SA flag, eating the tasty braai sipping beer and jumping up and down on the Mexican waves. So a day well spent. But will I do it again ...Mmmmm don't think so. People I am waiting for the World Cup. 2010 here I come.

What do women want....Really
Well this perplexing question has been rankling me for some time now. I read somewhere (can't comment on the authenticity) that even Mister Sigmund Freud after twenty years of doing his psycho analysis babble(Yes throw in the brick bats) said that the only question he couldn't find an answer for was ... yes you guessed it right "What do women want?".
The chick flick "What women want" starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, had this guy Nick played by Gibson who can hear voices playing inside female heads, including a female poodle (but why does it talk in English, well I don't know). And his shrink remarks; quote "If Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, and you can speak Venusian, the world can be yours."unquote. Hmmmm interesting philosophy. Well I for one certainly believe that females are the more dominant species. They can stand up to a lot, juggle multiple roles of a mother, friend, sister, boss, entrepreneur etc etc do excellent in each one of them and still be amazed and delighted when they get that Huge teddy or the box of chocolates.
Well to tell you a little about myself, I have never had much luck with women. I have dated a lot but never had a long term relationship. After a couple of months/dates it kinds of peters out and ends whether the lady loses interest or me (I would like to believe the latter, but the verdict is still open on that one). Though I have always been known as a gentleman by every female who knows me (Yes, everyone believes it about himself). So the problem must be I really don't know what they want ?
I had an interesting tiff with a lady friend of mine whom I know for quite a few years now. She said that I have said her obnoxious things and hurt her a lot of times but she never said a word until then. Which made me wonder when I did that ? Cos I don't remember doing any of it, but if she says then it must be true as well. I had always been supportive of whatever she did.. Yes I also have to include that I never remembered her birthday ever. Whereas she definitely did mine and gave me nice presents every time. But I always dismissed it as something of a guy thing, cos I don't remember any dates which include birthdays, anniversaries and all the myriad other dates one is supposed to remember. Which brought me to my question "What do women want?". Is it shiny baubles as proclaimed famously by Marlyn Monroe as "Diamonds are a girls best friend" to an advert of wonder bra that says "wonder bra is a girls best friend". Or is it love, or fame or money. Well I believe its all of them plus something else.
How else can you explain good girls falling for jerks(though i think it will be vehemently denied by females, but come on you know its true), well if you don't believe me search on the internet, there are even books that are called "How not be a nice guy and get the girls". So it must be something deeper. One thing for sure is that females are more emotional than men. So a lot of their choices are made on emotions. They are more expressive of their feelings and also look for solace to them in a lot of places. Well I am trying to figure out what is it that they want .. and no I will not be reading "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus" books, at least not yet.. So any female netizen if you stumble across this piece, do let me know what you really want ? and to any and all males of the net kingdom, I am on a quest, to find an answer to this elusive question.
